Student Support Services
Lovedale takes pride in offering support services to their students. The services offered include the following:
A student counsellor is available to support students with emotional issues such as anxiety, stress, depression as well as any other relationship problems that may negatively impact on their studies.
The unit has a Peer Help Programme where trained and supervised students listen to and support fellow students. These peer helpers operate in a supportive manner and are not qualified to give any particular advice to students.
The career counsellor is available to support students. Services include career planning, study techniques and skills in preparation for the world of work.
Resident and non-resident students have spiritual services at their disposal and some are affiliated to formal College structures, the Student Christian Association (SCA).
The office provides HIV/AIDS awareness programmes for all Campuses and has developed strong relationships with the following organisations: Komanani, Atic, Eastern Cape Aids Council, Department of Health and DoE in the Province.
Organised student activities take place in both the residence and the day student structures. Such activities include joining the College Choir, various sport activities and student societies. Students may participate in a variety of activities that are aimed at striking a balance between academic and social development.
The College provides opportunities for student development and formal leadership development that take place through participation in the Student Representative Council (SRC) Office.
The College facilitates financial support packages for students registered for National Certificate Vocational (NC(V)) and NATED N4-N6 programmes received from the National Department of Education. This support is aimed at responding to students’ need for study finance as well as to assist those learners that excel in their academic studies.
College bursaries are awarded to students who need financial aid, who take their studies seriously and excel academically during the year as well as for students who excel in sport.
The college understands the impact that accommodation has on the academic performance of students. The College provides accommodation on all three campuses for students who are far away from home.
